We supported the Inspiring Muslim Awards at 2024’s Eid in the Square event
We worked with the Greater London Authority (GLA) to help source, interview, and assess the potential award winners.
These awards were launched by the Mayor of London to recognise and celebrate the talent and achievements of British Muslims in the capital.
This year the theme was ‘Identity’ and there were four awards up for grabs. We had some incredible entries and narrowing them down to a shortlist wasn’t an easy task. After interviewing each of the nominees we were finally able to choose our winners.
On a beautiful, sunny day in Trafalgar Square Salma Hussain, Nazia Sultana, Mim Shaikh and Rehan Jamil walked on to the stage to be presented with their awards. Zainab Mahmood was unable to attend but was honoured in her absence.
These are our fantastic winners:
Identity Champion Award
Salma Hussain for her passion for using technology to build communities and bring positive change.
Identity Community Award
Zainab Mahmood is a green fashion editor and also curated London’s first ever South Asian sustainable fashion festival.
Identity Community Award
Nazia Sultana is the founder of Sustainably Muslim, a Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to empowering Muslims to champion environmental stewardship.
Identity Storyteller Award
Mim Shaikh is a broadcaster, actor and writer who also runs a podcast to help give the South Asian community a platform to share their own stories.
Identity Art Award
Rehan Jamil is a social documentary photographer who focuses on marginalised communities whose work has been exhibited at venues across London.
Huge congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who entered!
